Biggest Tottenham flops of all time
Here, we take a dip into the Lilywhites’ transfer pool and dredge up some signings that left fans scratching their heads and maybe a few are wondering who are Tottenham’s biggest flops.
1. Tanguy Ndombele (£54 million, 2019)
Do you know Spurs broke the bank to land this French powerhouse in 2019, hoping he’d be the missing piece in their midfield puzzle. Ndombele possessed undeniable talent, but his inconsistency and reported struggles with manager expectations left him largely on the bench.
The French International could only score 8 goals in his 85 appearances for Spurs. It was a tough spell for Ndobele at Tottenham which made him top the list of Tottenham biggest flops.
After a series of loan spells, it came to an end for Ndombele at Tottenham.
2. Vincent Janssen (£17 million, 2016)
Unfortunately, Vincent Janssen’s time at Spurs was more of a struggle for him, he was often having misplaced passes rather than clinical finishes.
The Dutch striker managed just two Premier League goals and 5 goals in 44 appearances for Tottenham.
Harry Kane became an answer to Tottenham’s striking crisis, Kane’s ability to score with both legs and head made him one of the best in the English league.
Tottenham sold Harry Kane to Bayern Munich and has since found it difficult to get his replacement. The English striker is having a good time at Bayern.
3. Giovani Lo Celso (£41 million, 2019)
The Argentine magician arrived with bags of potential, his creativity in the midfield was something to watch. However, injuries and inconsistency plagued his time in North London.
Now, after loan spells elsewhere, Lo Celso left Spurs a bittersweet taste in the mouths of Spurs fans who saw glimpses of his brilliance.
